Introduction
Background Information:
The Biomedical Group have created the proposal for the workshops designed to help educators and other faculty members working with autistic children. By providing them with different teaching tools and techniques that can be applied to the average elementary school classroom. In order to deepen their understanding of the different needs that the autistic student might have and to better equip their toolbox. This workshop will teach them that having an autistic student in the classroom requires patience and a relationship based off constant communication between the student, teacher, and parents. The group was able to create the workshops plan based off the interviews they had conducted with some of the autistic students attending Northglenn High School with them. The interviewees gave their side of what it is like to be a student in a classroom of peers who may not work in the same way/methods that they do. While being able to tell us about their strengths and struggles to help form an informative curriculum for the workshops. The workshops will be able to help the educators as well as help the group form a better relationship with their peers. After this year comes to a close for these seniors, they want to be able to have the workshops continue throughout the district with a lasting print as their senior project. |
